We're looking for a Medical Assistant to join our Pontiac Office. In this role, you'll be responsible for the following:
Clinical Duties and Responsibilities: Collects patient medical histories and records vital signs. Prepares patients for examination and explains treatment procedures to patients as needed. Gathers and prepares laboratory specimens, and may perform basic laboratory tests on the premises. Disposes contaminated supplies. Instructs patients about medication and special diets, and orders/obtains injectable medications from the onsite pharmacy as directed by a physician. May authorize drug refills as directed by a physician and telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care. Willingness to support and assist consumers with trauma related issues.
Administrative Duties and Responsibilities: Greets patients in a warm and welcoming environment and answers telephones. Updates and files patient medical records. Assists patients with filling out and completing insurance forms. May handle billing and relevant correspondence as needed. Schedules walk-in clinic appointments. Purchases and maintains supplies and equipment, and keeps waiting and examining rooms neat and clean. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care. Willingness to support and assist consumers with trauma related issues.
