Senior Staff Accountant

As our Senior Staff Accountant in Portland, OR you will report directly to the Controller and will be responsible for many cross functional accounting areas at PacStar, a manufacturing company.

You will a high level of accounting knowledge specific to inventory costing, controls and analysis, sales order entry and processing, and overall general accounting functions.

This is a hands-on role within the accounting team that will be expected to have a working knowledge of full cycle accounting operations, costing, sales order processing, GL reconciliations, sub-ledger functions, US GAAP, and compliance within the manufacturing industry. PacStar is a rapidly growing organization and over time this position will be responsible for expanding areas and needs within the accounting team.

Location: Portland OR - 4 to 6 months onsite during training then option for Hybrid.

Your Challenge:

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing costing
  • Accurate and timely sales order processing (quote to cash) and accounting
  • All inventory accounting functions, including costing, OH absorption, sub-ledger reconciliations, physical inventory reconciliations, BOM build-up reviews and analysis reporting.
  • GL and sub-ledger account reconciliations
  • Prepare journal entries and accruals/adjustments for period-end closing.
  • Assist with revenue forecasting, deferred revenue analysis and revenue recognition analysis.
  • Assist with internal audit and tax preparation workpapers and analysis.
  • Investigate discrepancies and inform Controller of critical issues and observations.
  • Perform Ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
  • Maintain accounting procedures in compliance with applicable government regulations; including, but not limited to, SOX, GAAP, etc.

Your Expertise:

  • 4 - 8 years of manufacturing experience
  • College degree with a BS in Accounting/Finance
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting, ideally in manufacturing industry.
  • Strong/current knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of sales order processing (quote to cash)
  • Demonstrated track record of strong manufacturing/inventory accounting analysis.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to work in a dynamic cross-functional environment.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail and quality orientation a must
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Experience in inventory costing and absorption
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with Sage, Avalara, SAP, Concur and Crystal Reporting a plus.

Salary: $64,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
