The Material Recovery Specialist is a full-time position responsible for the recovery of rejected raw materials and finished products to maximize efficiency and eliminate unnecessary waste, while ensuring conformance to the quality standards of Morton Buildings, Inc.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and records routine inspections on lumber, coated metal, and other construction materials; identifying and removing defects using various tools such as saws, sanders, shears, etc. to salvage damaged material and fulfill quality requirements.
  • Coordinates and documents the disposition of materials with appropriate staff members, ensuring adherence to industry regulations and MBI standards and specifications.
  • Stages incoming and outgoing rejected material as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of quality standards, testing, material recovery, and machine operations is preferred or a willingness to be trained
  • Ability to accurately count, use a calculator, tape measure, and other basic tools needed for the position
  • Forklift certification or ability to be certified
  • Basic computer skills such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent follow through
  • Highly organized with ability to prioritize and multi-task
