We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal/Sr. Principal Tech Editor and Writer based out of Kings Bay, GA. OR Silverdale, WA. OR Cape Canaveral, FL. As a Tech Editor and Writer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What you’ll get to do:

  • Write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications
  • Leads and coordinates validation of procedures with onsite staff using critical thinking and strong investigation skills ensuring accuracy and completion of procedures.
  • Independently acquire subject knowledge in developing technical documentation by communicating with engineering teams, product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
  • Prepare illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.
  • Overall takes strong sense of ownership in preparing technical documents with attention to detail.

We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal or Sr. Principal Tech Editor and Writer based out of Kings Bay, GA. OR Silverdale, WA. OR Cape Canaveral, FL.

This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications listed below:

Basic Qualifications for Principal:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years’ experience or Master's Degree with 3 years experience. Additional 4 years’ experience may be accepted in lieu of a Degree.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
  • Knowledge of Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) and Strategic Weapons Systems (SWS).
  • Hands on experience working with U.S. Navy fleet documentation SMPs, SOPs, and ODs.

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 9 years’ experience or Master's Degree with 7 years experience. Additional 4 years’ experience may be accepted in lieu of a Degree.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
  • Knowledge of Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) and Strategic Weapons Systems (SWS).
  • Hands on experience working with U.S. Navy fleet documentation SMPs, SOPs, and ODs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Arbortext and Adobe Illustrator or similar type programs
  • Experience working with turbine-generators
  • U.S. Navy experience
  • Active Secret Security Clearance

This position reports to Kings Bay, GA, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 2 locations listed above.



Salary Range: $64,200 USD - $112,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $79,600 USD - $139,300 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
