SUMMARY

Contribute to and enhance the positive, welcoming, lively, and exciting atmosphere of Westgate Resorts by maintaining the presence of the resort mascots (costumed characters) on property.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Please note this job requires the individual to wear a bear costume.

1. Wear a costume mascot outfit, including head, torso, arms, legs, hands, feet.

2. Assist with greeting at the Lobby during daily check-ins.

3. Maintain a presence at the Welcome Parties and BBQ Owner events when applicable

4. Maintain a presence in the Lobby interacting with guests

5. Maintain a presence at any additional on-property events as needed.

6. Interact with families and children on the property.

7. Hand out balloons to children during daily check-ins.

8. Be available to have pictures taken with Guests.

9. Visit other locations of the property including but not limited to the Lobby, Waterpark, Owners’

Club House, Picnic Area, Welcome Booth, and swimming pools.

10. Also act as “mascot handler” to ensure safety for person in costume and act as a liaison between guests and mascot.

11. Assist with greeting in the lobby and sales floor when mascot isn’t available or needed.

12. Conform to department training standards and maintaining character integrity for seamless experience

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years guest relations experience and/or training.

Mascot, entertainment, or performing experience a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all unites of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization

exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
