TITLE: Landscape Architect/ Sales

SUMMARY OF POSITION

As a Landscape Architect/Designer, you will work under the direction of the Senior Landscape Designer to analyze on-site conditions such as location, soils, vegetation, existing infra-structure, drainage patterns, etc.

Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with landscape specifications to approve the quality of materials and work, and to advise client and construction personnel on landscape features.

Understand and work with architectural review boards to maintain the overall look of the community.

The ideal candidate would be a self-starter, self-motivated, and be adept at collaborating with the senior landscape designer, project managers, and team members to see each project through from sales lead to client hand-off.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Confer with clients, engineers, and building architects to understand a project.

Prepare site plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

Prepare graphic representations of proposed plans using computer-aided design and drafting software.

Select appropriate materials for use in landscape designs, I.e., plants, hardscapes, turf…etc.

Inspect landscape work to ensure that it adheres to original plans.

Seek new work through marketing by building relationships with builders, architectural firms, become involved in community groups.

SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS

Ability to fully understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Skills in operating basic office equipment like printers, computers, copy machines, large format plotter and scanner and telephone systems.

Ability to operate, access, and maintain diverse software applications. Including Customer Relationship Management Software.

Ability to work with sales management software, document and note client interactions.

Communication skills

Candidates must be able to share their ideas, both orally and in writing, with clients, other architects, and work teammates who help prepare drawings and give presentations to explain their designs.

Creativity

Candidate must be able to create the overall cohesive look of gardens, parks, and other outdoor areas. Designs should be both pleasing to the eye and functional.

Problem-solving skills.

When designing outdoor spaces, Candidate must be able to provide solutions to unanticipated challenges. These solutions often involve looking at the challenge from many perspectives and collaborating with team members to find viable solutions.

Technical skills

Candidates must be able to use computer-aided design and drafting (Auto Cad and Land FX) programs to create representations of their projects and geographic information systems (GIS) for their designs.

Visualization skills

Candidate must be able to imagine how an overall outdoor space will look once complete and articulate this vision to the client.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) or a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB).
