Job Description

A SMARTService Technician is responsible for the installation and servicing of residential and commercial technology integration along with fiber installation and service. Our technicians are the face of SMARTSolutions; this experienced team provides quality, streamlined technology solutions that are backed with support you can trust and matched by top-notch customer service.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Capable of running CAT cable, Speaker lines, Fiber lines, & other field equipment in customer locations according to company and customer guidelines.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, and operational product manuals; executing them to the highest of quality standards.
  • Have the aptitude to troubleshoot complicated problems during installation, readjust equipment, repair or replace inoperative equipment.
  • Capability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
  • Must have the ability to work unsupervised and be self-motivated in order to complete installation jobs.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work paying close attention to details.
  • Climb and work from ladders, in some cases in excess of 30 feet.
  • Entering and working in attics and will be exposed to a variety of weather elements including: heat, cold, wind, and rain.
  • Required to trench/dig, sometimes using machinery such as a motorized trencher in order to lay duct, cable, or fiber.
  • Capable of using hand and power tools to properly mount and secure equipment
  • Provide quality training to our customers on their SMARTsystem.
  • Comfortable offering our customers additional services and products
  • Job responsibilities and obligations may extend beyond normal workday hours; you may be required to work before and after hours or on weekends in order to accomplish company goals.

Qualifications we look for that are required:

  • High aptitude for learning new technologies and the need to learn those operating systems
  • Highly focused and proactive to handle simultaneous deadlines.
  • Ability to travel for long or extended periods of time including interstate travel
  • Knowledge of computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets and databases; access control systems; media storage
  • Microsoft Office skills to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work well under pressure.
    • Flexibility to work long hours, as your ending time will vary from day-to-day depending on your assigned jobs and business needs.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience running or bending conduit, with digital multi-meters, and testing cable
  • Rack and stack work, closet work, putting together server racks, patch panels
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to operate a company truck
  • A valid driver’s license is required (no more than 2 moving violations in 3 years).
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely, frequently and independently move and handle up to 100 lbs.
  • Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
  • Able to perform general office administrative activities
  • Ability to drive for up to and exceeding 6 hours a day.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
