Pacific Power Group in San Diego, CA is looking for a responsible and qualified individual to join our Customer Service Team as a Parts Lead. A successful candidate will have mechanical aptitude as well as a positive attitude, great communication and customer service skills. We are looking for an Parts Lead to join our parts team. This position has a high degree of responsibility in filling PM contract orders and fulfilling critical project parts needs with little or no guidance from their direct supervisor. The parts specialist will process warehouse transfers, purchase orders, core credits and purchase orders.

To be successful in this role you need to have a good working knowledge of diesel engine, industrial parts, and power generation components. This position requires that you to be detail oriented, organized, possess a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, and have excellent communication and multi-tasking skills.

Salary: $70,700 annually

Primary (Essential) Duties of the Job:

  • Greet and help customer parts inquiry via, walk in, phone and email communications. Research, provide estimates, determine availability, and answer general parts questions using electronic and paper parts catalogs to identify parts.
  • Able to be trained in shipping and receiving, Scheduling freight pick up, and urgent shipping.
  • Will be responsible to handle the product warranty process and core returns.
  • Responsible to maintain accurate branch cycle count
  • Work closely with the technicians to ensure correct parts ordering and returns.
  • Order input internal and external systems when all information verified and complete.
  • Detailed understanding of technical information, including how to research via online tools across all product lines.
  • Proficient with internal systems and major lines of business.
  • Critical thinking skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Will exceed company and customer expectations at every opportunity.
  • Make parts recommendations to customers based on parts knowledge and information gathered.
  • Multi-task and prioritize demands of the job in a fast-paced environment to ensure an efficiently operating customer service department.
  • Collect accurate and detailed customer order information, including payment method in support order processing.
  • Process internal product price and availability requests from service department.
  • Conducts research for PORM, past due PO, tendering transactions and makes suggestions and/or appropriate corrections.
  • Maintain and update Active Log application throughout the day.
  • Monitor backorders daily ensuring prompt receipt and distribution of orders.
  • Acts as back up for warehouse functions, i.e.: ability to pull urgent request stock items, helps with warehouse cycle counts as needed.
  • Attend training as assigned by management and proactively seek to increase skillset to maintain proficiency in his/her job description.
  • Perform on-call duties on a rotating schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3-5 years of parts experience
  • Able to operate a forklift, ability to be forklift certified.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manual.
  • Must be able to communicate well to customers in-person as well as via phone.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Must be able to efficiently use Microsoft Word & Excel, Teams, Outlook and online Vendor tools and order process system.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle to make emergency part deliveries, as well as weekly visits to the PPG Long Beach branch to pick up parts.

Preferred:

  • Marine and industrial diesel engine experience.
  • AA degree or higher.
