Job Description

The Operations Manager is a full time role reporting to the CEO. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and strategizing the daily operations and routine of the organization specific to the operational areas of facility and vehicle fleet maintenance, auctions, warehouse, logistics, and rigging. This position will manage and take required steps to mitigate risks associated with a modern warehouse and the activities associated with Sigma’s processes. Additionally, this position will interface with multiple contractors and 3rd party providers for services required but not performed by Sigma personnel. The Operations Manager is entrusted to manage utility costs and to insure the facility and operations under his/her stewardship is operating as efficiently as possible.


Additionally, the Operations Manager is SIGMA’s liaison with the area's first responders; Scott Township Fire Department, Evansville Police Department and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee budgeting, reporting, and planning for responsible areas.
  • Explore and analyze technical, production, and management disciplines to develop annual budgets and long-term plans.
  • Determine operations labor needs while being cognizant of the bottom line.
  • Review, revise, develop, and implement operational policies, practices, and procedures; ensuring process models and work instructions are robust and complete for each department.
  • Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company.
  • Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and morale.
  • Work with management partners to create and maintain a safe work environment; will be the designated safety manager for the operation.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies including OSHA, IOSHA, DOT and Vanderburgh County rules and regulations.
  • Manage auction, warehouse, logistics, facilities, and rigging departments to achieve desired departmental goals
  • Forward thinking on cohesive operations in all areas; striving for constant improvement
  • Partner with Sigma’s Divisions of Appraisal, Equipment, Surplus, Shop & Integration, Recovery and C&I Electronics to achieve stated goals
  • Maintain superior internal and external customer relations, consistent with company policies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations management or related field; degreed engineer is strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, preferably in a similar and broad operations role
  • Successful track record of managing a diverse group of direct reports. Setting goals and objectives, mentoring and holding teams accountable for overall goals while allowing for personal growth.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements and using that information to make objective, data driven decisions.
  • Must have strong and demonstrated capabilities to use technology and a variety of software programs to enable work processes and accountabilities for your role and in effectively leading teams within your group
  • Excellent communication skills; written, verbal and within all levels of organization
  • An understanding of high voltage industrial electricity, HVAC systems, gas boilers, fire protection systems, and solar panels is required.
