Human Resources Manager (on-site)

Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative is a nonprofit organic farmers’ cooperative of over 100 farmers in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. We focus on creating healthy, high-quality foods from our highly maintained and enriched soils on our small-scale family farms. LFFC serves all Eastern Pennsylvania, New York City, and most of the tri state area by connecting the farmer and customer, delivering the best local organic produce, value added products, and humanely raised and pastured animal products to retail establishments, co-ops, restaurants, and institutions.


Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager develops LFFC’s culture by leading all aspects of Human Resources. This role supports leaders and team members in areas of staffing, organizational development, employee relations, training, benefits administration, compensation, and policy guidance.

  • You have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in human resource leadership; experience in the food & beverage, manufacturing, or warehousing/distribution industry is preferred, but not required

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Planning, developing, and implementing strategies for recruitment, benefits, compensation, corrective action, training and development, company culture, performance management and employee relations.
  • Partnering with department managers to understand operational needs and aligning HR practices, tools, and policies to deliver accordingly.
  • Leading by example to create an engaging environment for team members and the co-op to ensure collective success.
  • Interpreting and providing guidance around policies to managers and team members, sharing best practices in HR, balancing organizational and departmental priorities; updating and distributing the LFFC Team Member Handbook and LFFC HR policies as needed.
  • Partnering with department managers to proactively identify future hiring needs; driving the full cycle hiring process, from facilitating phone screens to new hire onboarding and orientation.
  • Developing and updating job descriptions, ensuring all position descriptions clearly outline the responsibilities and the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for each position.
  • Contributing to the development of strategies to continuously improve co-op culture/organizational health and organizing implementation.
  • Keeping up to date with all local and federal legislation affecting human resources; monitoring co-op policies and delivering trainings as needed to ensure compliance.
  • Developing and maintaining critical HR documents and tools vital to the success and health of the co-op, including but not limited to position bands, compensation philosophy and performance management tools
  • Overseeing maintenance of accurate and complete employee records across HR files and our HRIS, Paycom; ensuring rules concerning confidentiality and retention are followed and exercising discretion when needed.
  • Delivering professional coaching for existing leaders and supporting employee career growth opportunities for all team members
  • Communicating things like organizational changes, updated policies, staff meals, or LFFC-sponsored events to all team members.
  • Partnering with the LFFC designated broker to facilitate annual open enrollment of medical, dental & vision benefits; collecting and submitting all Simple IRA applications for eligible full time team members after their first year of service.
