The major objective of Histotechnicians is to prepare high quality stained sections of Patient tissues for microscopic examination by Pathologist. Histotechnicians perform multiple automated and manual procedures on tissue portions with resultant high quality slides which facilitate accurate Pathology reports.

• Knowledgeable in human anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to safely handle sharp instruments and knowledgeable in the use of volatile and carcinogenic chemicals.
• Ability to withstand noxious odors.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Excellent computer, organizational and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Work Experience:
One year recent Clinical Laboratory experience, preferably in role related to histology.

License/Registration/Certification:
None.

Education and Training:
Employees Degree from an accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry. 60 semester hours of academic credit from an accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry may be substituted for degree.
