Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and / or move items over 50 pounds / kilograms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Role Summary & Purpose

The Custodian is responsible of maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the facilities and maintain organized janitorial storage areas.

Critical Performance Objectives

• Maintain restrooms areas cleaned and fully stocked
• Maintain breakroom areas cleaned and fully stocked
• Advise appropriate contact for supply ordering to reorder supplies that are running low in stock
• Assist with other maintenance department tasks and projects

• To ensure adherence with all compliance standards and operate with integrity at all times.
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them
• Clean windows and mirrors
• Clean and supply restrooms
• Remove waste and empty trash
• Maintain cleaning chart indicating areas that were cleaned and inspected
• Replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies
• Organize janitorial storage areas
• Notify supervisors about unsafe conditions or concerning the need for repairs or maintenance
• Performs all other duties as assigned

Experience / Knowledge

• 1 year experience in housekeeping, janitorial type roles, plus
• knowledge of basic facilities maintenance, plus

Education / Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• Ability to observe safety and security procedures and to comply with policies
• Ability to read and interpret written information; ability to write clear statements; ability to communicate orally
• Must be able to do physical work and operate power equipment normally found in janitorial operations
• Must be able to manage time efficiently and to work individually as well as within a team

Language Skills

• Bilingual English and Spanish written and oral, plus
