Job Description

GW, a premier publishing services provider, is looking for a creative individual passionate about education and learning to join our growing team.

As a Content Development Editor, you will be working in our Content Development team, which supports educational publishers nationwide. Our primary missions are (1) creating educational content that enhances the learning experience, (2) creating assessments (e.g., test banks) that are engaging and accurately assess mastery, (3) providing unmatched customer support throughout development, and (4) having a little fun along the way.

As a Content Development Editor on our team, you will manage each project from an instructional design perspective, ensuring all content adheres to instructional design principles and assessment guidelines.

We are looking for individuals who have experience teaching at the college or university level. We are especially interested in applicants who have a background in teaching sociology, as we do a lot of work in this and related disciplines.

Your primary duties as a Content Development Editor would include the following:

  • Work with external clients to clarify project expectations and goals.
  • Oversee the work done by contract subject matter experts (SMEs), ensuring quality standards are met, all content/assessments align to learning objectives, and the client’s guidelines were followed. This is a very hands-on position and will require a fair amount of editing and writing for certain projects.
  • Provide constructive feedback (coaching) for SMEs.
  • Act as a project manager. We are looking for proactive management, which includes creating a project plan, prioritizing tasks, using strong judgment to plan and problem solve, and communicating with the project team.
  • Keep projects on schedule. Must be able to roll with changing schedules, identify places where time can be saved, and communicate with clients when schedules need to be renegotiated.
  • Work within a defined budget. This includes tracking and managing budgets using supplied tools.

As a Content Development Editor, you will work mainly on assessment content, such as test banks, chapter quizzes, and other student activities. You will need to be able to write good questions, identify bad questions, train others on question writing, and be detail-oriented. You will also work on other materials such as instructor’s manuals, lecture PowerPoints, e-learning modules, and more. As our services continue to expand there will be opportunities to work on other types of projects as well.

On the technical side, we are looking for someone skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, in particular).

If you have prior teaching experience in higher education, developing curriculum, authoring assessments, and/or instructional design and have unparalleled organizational and problem-solving skills, we want to speak with you!

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience teaching at the college or university level
  • Experience in instructional design, curriculum development, test item writing, or learning design
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Other qualities:

    • You are a critical thinker who can see solutions when obstacles present themselves.
    • You have excellent follow-through. When you say you’ll do something, everyone trusts that it will get done.
    • You’re organized and on top of things. You know how to prioritize your work.
    • You have excellent writing skills, including grammar and punctuation, and an eye for editing.
    • You want to be an integral part of a team and help build team success
