Responsibilities:
Fall 2023 Masters/PhD Intern, GPU Architecture, RISC-V & Embedded Processors
LOCATION:
Orlando, FL
ONSITE: This is an onsite position – the intern/co-op is required to relocate if necessary and work full-time (40 hours) from the Orlando office.
PROGRAM TERM:
- Fall (Start Date August 21st, September 11th or September 25th, 2023 – December 15, 2023)
THE ROLE:
RTG (Radeon Technologies Group) IP design team is instrumental to AMD’s success. We create and specify innovative hardware solutions and deliver world class GPUs. As a RISC-V CPU/GPU micro-architect/ RTL designer, you will be working on exciting projects with the very best and most passionate GPU team in the world.
THE PERSON:
A self-motivated CPU designer. An effective team player who focuses on collaboration, team building, mentoring, and furthering team success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with a team of architects developing innovative embedded RISC-V CPUs.
- Identify complex technical problems, break them down, summarize multiple possible solutions, and help the team make advances in Performance, Power, and silicon Area (PPA).
- Understand and improve existing and emerging graphics/compute paradigms and new APIs employing RISC-V processors.
- Work with architects to understand bottlenecks and other problems where an embedded processor will improve the performance.
- Propose innovative solutions that can be implemented in HW with the best PPA characteristics
- Analyze CPU workloads and make recommendations for improvements.
- Collaborate with engineers at multiple sites.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- RTL design experience designing
- High speed GPUs
- RISC-V RV64 CPUs
- RV64 ISA Extensions M, A, B, F, V
- CPU Principles of Branch Predictors and register renaming, out of order execution, speculative execution.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with attention to details
- Excellent C/C++/Scripting (Python, etc.) experience
- Strong communication, time management, and presentation skills
- Effective Team player who focuses on collaboration and enabling team successes
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Master or PhD degree with emphasis in Electrical Engineering, Computer architecture, or Computer Science

Qualifications:
